David L. Miller, age 69, a resident of Windfall, IN passed away on Saturday February 11, 2012 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Tipton, IN on June 24, 1942 to John Everett and Mary Francis (Sapp) Miller. Dave was a 1960 graduate of Windfall High School and upon graduation he enlisted in the US Army serving from 1960 to 1963. On June 1, 1964 Dave married Deloris Ann Plake and they had celebrated 47 years together. Dave retired in 1997 from Chrysler in Kokomo after 34 years of service with the company. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, fishing, tinkering, and trips to the area casino’s with Deloris. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends and loved to sit and visit, and he never met a stranger. Dave was very active with both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Tipton County for many years. He was an Assistant Ranger at Camp Kikthawenund in Frankton, IN where he had received many awards over the years for his activities associated with scouting. Survivors include his wife Deloris Ann Miller of Windfall, a son, Terry Lee Miller of Elwood, a daughter, Susan Lynn Moore of Tipton, along with his grand children, Karleen Miller, Casey McCool, Sean McCool, Ian Moore, Dustin McCool, Korrine Miller, Scotlyn Moore, Keaten Miller, Sherri Hartman, Johnny Hartman, Amanda Hartman, and 3 great grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Bill Miller of FL, Donnie Gene Miller of Greentown, Myra Leora Plake of Elwood, Lily Mae Hale of Sharpsville, Linda Joan Marks of Greentown, and Patty Lou Poole of Kansas City, MO. Dave was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Thursday February 16, 2012 at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton from 4 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday February 17 at Porter‘s. Pastor Chris Ellis and Stephen Plake will be officiating. Interment will take place in the Nevada Cemetery.
