George L. Bero, 83, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007 in Fort Wayne. Born in Chicago, IL, he was employed in the Freight Traffic and Transportation Departments of the former Pennsylvania R.R. and its successor company, Conrail for over 30 years in Chicago, IL, Cincinnati, OH, Dayton, OH, Fort Wayne, IN, and Seattle, WA, having retired from Conrail in April, 1982. He was also employed as Assistant Traffic Manager, Essex International, Fort Wayne for 3 years and Transportation Rate Analyst, Magnavox Co., Fort Wayne for 4 years. He was a native of Chicago, IL and a descendant of 17th century Montreal, Que. settlers and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include daughters, Nancy L. (Richard) Till, and Ellen C. Bero both of Fort Wayne; sister, Mary E. Brady of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Christopher (Alissa) Till, and Jennifer (Jason) Dennington; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Abigail Dennington, and Carter Till; step-great-grandchild, Evan Cochran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane F. Bero; a son, James P. Bero; a daughter, Jeanne M. Bero; parents, William J. and Agnes C. Bero; brother, William J. Bero; and a sister, Agnes T. Major. Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1020 Capitol Avenue with calling one hour prior, Fr. Daniel Durkin, Fr. Thomas Lamping, Fr. Daryl Rybicki and Fr. Thomas Shoemaker are officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue with Vigil at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice.
