Memorials are directed to the Clay Center Christian Church. Graveside services Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska.

    John Raymond Green, 49, was born on Oct. 17,1960, at Danville, Ill.,to William R. and Mary L. (Bitts)Green. He received his high school education at Covington High School, undergrad degree at Nebraska Christian College, and graduate degree at Cincinnati Bible College. He married
    Cheryl Ruttman on May 30, 1981. To this union two children were born, Adam and Charity. John was the senior minister at the Clay Center Christian Church, where he served for 23
    years. He also served at churches in Anthon, Iowa, and West Lebanon, Ind.
    John's talents stretched far beyond his ability to faithfully preach the Word of God. He was actively involved with both the Clay Center Community Theater and the Hastings Community Theater. He enjoyed time in his garden as well as with his family. One of his strong skills was cooking. He enjoyed working with wood and working with the shop class at the high school. John
    was the president of the Pibel Bible Camp board. He served the Nebraska Christian Convention and the Iowa-Nebraska Christian Convention. John enjoyed taking photographs, especially of his children and trees.
    Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Green, Clay Center; a son, Adam Green, Tyro, Kan.; a daughter, Charity Green, Clay Center, Neb,; his mother, Mary Green, Covington, Ind. ;a brother Randy Green, Covington, Ind.; and his
    mother-in-law Clara Ruttman, Nelson.
    He was preceded in death by his father, William Green; a sister, Cindy Gaudino; and father-in-law, Gordon Ruttman.
    His funeral was last Wednesday at the Clay Center Christian Church. Pastors Dave Bycroft, Dick Brown,
    Anthony Godtel, and Rich Milliken officiated. Pallbearers included Randy Green, Gerry Ruttman, Jason Mathews,
    Phil Wicke, Lew Stancer, and Cliff Gallant. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery.
    McLaughlin Funeral Chapel of Clay Center handled the
    arrangements.

    Notes:

    Mary Louise Green, 83, of Covington died at 3:40 P. M. Tuesday June 30, 2015 at The Waters of Covington having been a resident two years. Mary was born June 17, 1932 at Terre Haute the daughter of John Isaac and Grace (Acton) Bitts.

    Mary has been a Covington resident since 1958 and formerly resided at Newport and Terre Haute. She was a graduate of Terre Haute Garfield High School. She was a member of First Church of Christ and had been a CNA and a volunteer at The Waters for several years.

    Mary married with William R. Green August 22, 1953 at Terre Haute and he died March 28, 2005. Surviving is a son Randy (wife Patricia) Green of Covington, a brother Francis Ribbe of Normal, IL, fifteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, a daughter Cindy Gaudino, a son John Green and a grandson Jason Gaudino preceded her in death.

    Visitation will be 12:00 P. M. until time of services at 2:00 P. M. (EDT) Monday July 6, 2015 at Shelby Funeral Home with Kevin Wildman officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Condolences to the family: www.shelbyfuneralhome.com.
