      Death of a Pioneer.

This morning at 7:40 o'clock at the home of his son, J.A. Ramsey, in West Bolton township, occurred the death of Robert Ramsey, one of the finest and most highly esteemed citizens of this county. The immediate cause of his death was old age and a lingering illness of several months as the result of general debility.

The funeral of the deceased will occur Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Mt. Zion church followed by burial in Mercer cemetery.

The deceased was born in Boone county, Ind., in 1830, and was 76 years of age at the time of death. In 1843 he removed to Illinois. In 1875 he came to Kansas an settled in lower Cowley county, where he has resided ever since. As a citizen, husband, father and neighbor he was equalled by few. Everyone who knew Robert Ramsey esteemed him, and his friends will long revere his memory.

It was about six years ago his wife died because of injuries received in a runaway accident and Mr. Ramsey never fully got over the loss of his wife.

Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey were parents of four boys, three of whom as still living. J.A. Ramsey resides in Bolton township, J.W. Ramsey lives in Kay county and F.W. Ramsey lives in this city.

To the bereaved relatives the Traveler and a large number of friends extends their heartfelt sympathy.
