- Dennis L. Jackson, 66, of Jacksonville, IL, passed away Friday evening, August 4, 2017, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL.
Dennis was born May 17, 1951, in Carrollton, IL, a son of Harvey Jackson and Betty Eyer Jackson Ford. Dennis graduated from Greenfield High School with the class of 1969.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Omar and David Jackson.
Dennis retired from Mobil Chemical Company in Jacksonville, IL after 25 years of employment. He was a member of Athensville Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, trap shooting, which he received several trophies, chess where he proclaimed to be the best in three counties, playing cards and most of all had a love for drinking beer. He provided his family with turkeys and hams at every holiday dinner and was an avid sports enthusiast watching baseball games and car races.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday,August 11, 2017 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra, IL where he will be laid to rest next to his parents and brothers.
Dennis is survived by his daughter, Marcy Jackson of Springfield, IL, brothers, Darrell Eyer of Jacksonville, FL, Clyde Jackson of Palmyra, IL, Harvey W. Jackson of Hettick, IL, sisters, Diane (Bob) Bettis of Modesto, IL, Penny Jackson of Chatham, IL, and Michelle Axley of Clarksville, TN, several nieces and nephews and special dog; Million Dollar Charley.
