Shirley Ruth Plake, age 67, passed away Friday April 22, 2011 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. She was born in Tipton, IN on May 16, 1943 to Thomas and Letha (Likens) Plake. Shirley had previously worked in the healthcare field for many years. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles, playing bingo, anything Elvis, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tipton. Survivors include a son, Jerry Neil & Lora Hughes of Elwood, a daughter, Elizabeth Stacy & Jerad LaShure of Elwood, along with 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Surviving siblings include; Deloris Ann Miller of Windfall, Sharon Sue Addison of Kokomo, Herbert Wayne Plake of Tipton, and Hubert Gene Plake of Tipton. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, and 1 sister. Funeral services will be held at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 3 PM with visitation two hours prior the service. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton. Rev. Steve Plake will be officiating.
