Carlile 02/17/1925 - 5/22/2013 Jacqueline (Jackie) Mote Carlile was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on February 17, 1927 to Dr. Paul Revere Mote and his wife Jessie Elgin Hamilton Mote, a member of the Cherokee Nation. Jackie and her family moved to La Jolla, CA during World War II, where she graduated from high school. At the end of the War, Jackie's family moved back to Sapulpa, where she met her long-time spouse and love of her life, Hollis Carlile. Hollis was attending the University of Texas and worked summer jobs in the oil fields outside Tulsa, near Sapulpa. They met on a blind date arranged by the local matchmaker, and were married on March 26, 1950. Jackie furthered her education by earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Oklahoma University for Women. She was the fifth generation of women in her family to earn an advanced degree. Jackie was employed in the Business/Finance fields, until 1953, when the first of her five children were born. At that time, she chose to spend her days with her children rather than work outside her home. This she did until 35 years ago when she and Hollis relocated to Bakersfield where she became an even more avid bridge player, joined the AAUW (American Association for University Women), and became a member of a local Gourmet Cooking Group. Jackie died of Natural Causes on May 22, 2013. She is survived by her husband Hollis Carlile, her brother Charles and his wife Dolores; her eldest son James, his wife Estrella and their two daughters Kristina and Jessica; her elder daughter Mari, her husband Aaron Turner and their two sons, Alexander and Trevor, his wife Marcela and their two children, Catrina and Isaac; her younger daughter Grace, her husband David Nicoll (deceased) and their two sons, Michael and Maxwell, and his daughter Cailean; her middle son Gregg; and her youngest son Mark. Services are open to all those who knew Jackie and will be held at the Mill Creek Christian Church, located on Truxtun Ave., on Saturday, September 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm. A small reception will follow in the church's parlor.
