      ----------------------------------------------
Gladys “Ginny” Virginia (Westhafer) Johnson, age 86, of Mechanicsburg, died peacefully at the Church of God Home on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Ginny was born on Tuesday, December 13, 1927 in Mechanicsburg to the late Wilbur Westhafer and Helen (King) Westhafer. Ginny was the widow of Harry Joseph Johnson, Jr., whom she married on July 1, 1968, and who died on July 21, 1998. In addition to her parents and husband, Ginny is preceded in death by her grandson, Craig Reed, who died in 2003, and her seven brothers and three sisters.

Ginny’s survivors include her four loving children: Sandra “Sandy” K. Reed of Newville, George “Case” Hull and his wife, Beverly, of Dillsburg, Sharon Myers and her husband, Gary, of Mechanicsburg, and Wendy Bower and her husband, Jack, of King of Prussia; her nine grandchildren; her 21 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Keith Westhafer; and several nieces and nephews.

Ginny was a long-time member of First Church of God in Mechanicsburg where she enjoyed being active in the choir, the nursery, and the Monday Night Bible School. Having never driven a car, Ginny was well known for her walking in and around Mechanicsburg. She greatly enjoyed playing the lottery and Rummy 500; she was a winner! A kind spirit, Ginny loved little children and lending a hand to the elderly whenever she was able. Ginny was always thrilled to visit the Poconos, but more than anything else in life, Ginny cherished her family reunions. It was well known by everyone in the family that Ginny would always be there, always have everything ready, and always be ringing her cow bell. They were joyful times with a wonderful woman.

All are welcome to join Ginny’s family at her viewing on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Tracy A. Conner officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA. Honored to be pallbearers are: Steve Goff, Todd Reed, Jason Myers, Corey Hull, Jonathan Bower, and George “Case” Hull.

The family suggests memorial contributions to American Diabetes Association, 301 Chestnut Street, Suite #101, Harrisburg, PA 17101, or Furry Friends Network, P.O. Box 519, Boiling Springs, PA 17007.

Ginny’s family has entrusted her care to Myers – Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421. Read Ginny’s full obituary, view her memorial video and portrait, and sign her official guest book at www.Myers-Buhrig.com.
