    • Charles Henry Loebach, 89 of Granville died peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2016 in his residence with his loving family by his side.

      Charles was born on August 19, 1927 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Streator to Charles J. and Catherine A. (Sondgerath) Loebach. He married Eleanore Stopa on July 5, 1952. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before she passed away on August 15, 2013.

      He graduated from Streator High School and attended St. Bede Junior College and graduated the class of 1951 where he received an associate’s degree in accounting.

      Charles served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic and flight engineer from 1946 – 1949. He was supervisor of plant operations for Illinois Power Company in Hennepin and retired in 1988 after 36 years of service.

      Charles was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart Church in which he served as former President and Secretary. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Peter Delo Council. After retirement Charles volunteered as a Red Coat at St. Margaret’s Hospital for many years.

      He was a former coach for youth baseball, an avid fan of all his grandchildren’s activities, and was involved in numerous Putnam County School activities.

      Survivors are two sons, Charles (Nancy) Loebach of Granville and Lawrence (Jolene) Loebach of Hennepin; two daughters, Christine Stillson of Oak Park and Laura (Dave) Weiden of Oglesby and 7 grandchildren, Dr. Jillian (Anthony) Phelps, Heidi Loebach, Rebecca Loebach, David Weiden, Daniel Weiden, Seana Stillson, Christopher Stillson, and one great granddaughter Clara Phelps.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eleanore, in 2013, three brothers and two sisters.

      Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Church or the Putnam County Food Pantry.

      Pallbearers will be David Weiden, Daniel Weiden, Seana Stillson, Christopher Stillson, Anthony Phelps, and Kevin Bannon.

      Service/Memorial InformationMass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Granville. Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Granville.

      Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. There will be a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. which will be recited by members of the Sacred Heart Holy Name and the Knights of Columbus.

      Additional visitation prior to the service will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.
