    • DONNA A. NIX, 94, of Columbia City, died at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at The Oaks Living Center where she had been a resident since April 19th.

      She was born February 5, 1914 in Jackson Township, Huntington County a daughter of William and Zelma (Bolinger) Norris. She graduated from Roanoke High School.

      On November 16, 1932 she was united in marriage to Norman J. Nix. They made their home in Washington Township, Whitley County until 1961 when they moved to Columbia City. Mr. Nix died August 25, 1987.

      She was employed at Lincoln Life for 15 years.

      Her memberships included St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church.

      Surviving relatives include a son, Larry (Shirley) Nix of Kokomo; a daughter-in-law, Ruth (Richard) Nix Malcolm of Butler; nine grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma Simon of Columbia City.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Nix; a sister; and two brothers.

      The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Father Bill Schooler officiating. The burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. The visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

      For those who wish, memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or donor’s choice.
