    Ottilia M. “Tillie” Clute, 90, of Lafayette, passed away at St. Anthony Healthcare in Lafayette 10:00 AM Tuesday November 28, 2017. Ottilia was born in Lafayette December 29, 1926, the daughter of the late Fred H. and Ottilia Sondgerath Klinker and was a 1945 graduate of Montmorenci High School. She married Lyle E. Clute at St. Charles Catholic Church in Otterbein, IN September 28, 1946, and he preceded her in death October 3, 2016. Ottilia had been employed at Arnett Clinic in Lafayette, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Lafayette; the St. Mary Altar and Rosary Society; Life member of the American Legion Post 11 Ladies Auxiliary; Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary; the 14th Armored Division Auxiliary; Arnett Clinic Retirees; Euchre Club and Alcoa Retirees. Surviving are two daughters, Emily J. Brunton (William) of Ft. Wayne, IN; Dana L. Farrell (Robert) of West Point, IN; two sons, Daryl E. Clute (Terry) of Lafayette; David J. Clute (Jane) of Cicero, IN; two brothers, David Klinker (Sheila) of Lafayette; Victor Klinker (Sheila) of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Brett (Dawn) & Ryan (Julie) Brunton; Rob (Melia) Farrell & Laura (Josh) Lambert; Sara (Nick) Rooze & Jeff (Kristin) Clute and Adam (Dianna) Clute & Emily (Justin) Rice along with 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Jerome Klinker and by two sisters, Catherine A. Krodel and Mary V. Thornbury.     Notes:

    Jerome F. "Jerry" Klinker, 83, of Lafayette passed away Friday November 3rd at St. Anthony Health Care after a long battle with heart disease. Jerry was an entrepreneur and businessman, a friend of Lafayette Catholic Schools, a Purdue University supporter and a family man.

    Jerry was born December 10, 1933 to Fred and Ottilia Klinker of Otterbein and graduated from Montmorenci High School in 1951. Jerry attended Purdue University until being drafted into the military during the Korean conflict in 1952. After 18 months of training in Germany, Jerry was honorably discharged in April 1955.

    In 1958, Jerry and business partners originated Blue Print Specialties in Lafayette, which Jerry managed successfully until his retirement. In 1970, Jerry partnered with a friend and developed Eastern Engineering Supply in Muncie. In 1986, Jerry and longtime friend, Dr. Jim Pickerill, partnered to establish Saint Anthony Health Care, a Catholic nursing home which was blessed and dedicated by Bishop Wm. Higi. For 30 years Jerry has co-operated, treasured and been blessed by Saint Anthony, including the staff and chaplain Fr. Samuel, all of whom he considered family.

    Jerry loved Lafayette and the community. He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, the Knights of Columbus, the Sierra Club and the American Legion. Jerry was a generous supporter of Lafayette Catholic Schools and Central Catholic High School. Jerry loved Purdue University and was a John Purdue Club member. Jerry and wife Shirley enjoyed and attended athletic events for many years.

    Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley (Spitznagle) and their children Craig (Cheryl) of Fort Wayne, Neil of Lafayette, Lori (Curt) Johnson of Bow, NH and Lynn (Rich) Unger of Pittsboro. Family gatherings and vacations with his children and grandchildren were highlights of Jerry's family life and he will be missed greatly by his adored grandchildren, Lindsay, Chelsea, Joseph, Cassidy, Brooke, Paige, Megan, Ashley, and Rachel.

    Jerry is survived also by his sister Ottilia "Tillie" Clute, and brothers David and Victor. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother Fred and sisters Catherine Krodel and Mary Thornbury.

    The Rosary will be recited at 3:45 PM, with visitation until 7:00 PM Wednesday Nov. 8 at St. Mary Cathedral in Lafayette. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday Nov. 9 with Fr. Jeff Martin officiating, with the interment following at St. Mary Cemetery with American Legion Post 11 graveside rites.     Mary Virginia (Klinker) Thornbury, 70, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died at St. Anthony's Healthcare Center at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, where she had been a patient the past 2 months.

    Mary was born in Lafayette at St. Elizabeth Hospital August 17, 1941, the youngest of 7 brothers and sisters, to the late Fredric and Ottilia Sondgerath Klinker. She was a graduate of Lafayette Central Catholic High School, and was the valedictorian of her St. Elizabeth School of Nursing class of 1962. Mary worked as a registered nurse in all departments except surgery in hospitals and doctor's office in multiple states during the 18 moves she and her husband made in his career.

    She married William Thornbury at St. Charles Catholic Church in Otterbein June 29, 1964, and he survives.

    Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Punta Gorda, Fla., the Newcomers Club of Hayward, Wis. and was co-owner with her husband of a family resort in Hayward, Wis. She loved to cook, as one of her hobbies was cooking meals for those in need; and she enjoyed traveling, having been overseas to Europe, Asia and the South Pacific.

    Surviving with her husband are 2 sons, Bradley (wife: Barbara) Thornbury, of Warrenville, Ill. and Ted (wife: Kelly) Thornbury, of Crystal Lake, Ill.; 3 brothers, Jerome (wife: Shirley) Klinker, David (wife: Sheila) Klinker and Victor (wife: Sheila) Klinker, all of Lafayette; a sister, Ottilia (husband: Lyle) Clute, of Lafayette; a daughter-in-law, Sara Thornbury McGrath, of Frankfort, Ill; and six grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by a son, Scott; a brother, Fred Klinker; and a sister, Catherine Krodel.

    Friends may call from the Rosary at 4:45 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at St. Mary's Cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral; Fr. Matthew J. Born Aug. 30, 1966, in Flint, Mich., the son of William and Mary (nee Klinker) Thornbury, he passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at his home surrounded by his family. Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery, St. Charles Township. Scott was a 1988 graduate of Purdue University where he was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity. He was also a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Scott was an account manager at Pitney Bowes in Chicago. He is survived by his wife, Sara (nee Roush); sons, Alec and Nicholas; his parents of Huntley; brothers, Brad (Barbara) of Warrenville and Ted of Huntley; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Thornbury of St. Charles; and mother- and father-in-law, Joyce and Ken Roush of Glen Ellyn. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fred and Ottilia Klinker; and paternal grandfather, John Thornbury. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
