    WINEINGER, EUGENE, age 96 years, of Lake Station, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014. He was born in Cuzco, IN to the late Levi and Olive Wineinger. He was married 73 years to his wonderful and loving wife, Elizabeth “Betty”.

    He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; daughters, Betty Jean (James) Luckow, Joan Wineinger; sons, Eugene (Linnea) Wineinger and Robert (Linda) Wineinger; grandchildren, Jill (Carl) Nehm, Douglas (Kristin) Luckow, Amy (Dr. Adam) Ostendorf, Sarah (Ian) Howe, Lisa Wineinger (Buddy Pierce), Kellie (Jonathan) Wilkerson, many great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and friends.

    Eugene worked at U.S. Steel for 42 years. He was active at his Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Merrillville. He enjoyed his family and playing dartball.

    A special thank you to Joan Wineinger for excellent care of her dad.

    In lieu of flowers, contributions are preferred to the Wineinger family.

    A funeral service will be Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev. Carolyn Heider officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.     Wineinger, Paul A long time resident ofHobart, passed awayFriday, August 12, 2011 in Orland Park, IL. Paul was the adoring and loving husband of 63 years to the late Clara, nee Vacklavik. Paul is survived by his daughter, Judith L. Wilson of Lockport, IL; and two grandchildren,Terri (Michael) WilhiteandDouglas (Brandy) Wilson.Paul is also survived by hisbrothers & sisters: Eugene (Betty) Wineinger, Clarence Wineinger, Leroy (Clarice) Wineinger, Marvin (Margaret) Wineinger, Betty Carns, and Fern Goodwin. He was preceded in death by1 brother, Floyd Wineinger. Paulwas born on July 27, 1921 in Cuzco, Indiana to the late Levi and Olive Wineinger. He moved to Hobart in his teenage years and graduated from Hobart High School, where he played basketball. He served his country in WWII in the U.S. Army. Paul was a lifetime member of the Hobart VFW Post 5365 and a member of the Hammond American Legion Post 17. He retired from U.S. Steel where he worked as a Millwright for over 40 years. He was an owner of race horses and was an avid bowler. Paul very much enjoyed golfing at Indian Ridge Golf Course in Hobart as well as traveling to locations such as Myrtle Beachfor golf vacations. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Paul's honor may be made to the Hobart VFW Post 5365, 540 South Linda Street, Hobart, IN. A memorial service for Paul will be Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home and Cremation service, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.     Age 62, of Lake Station, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, June 13, 2010 after a lifelong battle against multiple illnesses. Ron was a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident and graduate of River Forest High School, class of 1966. He worked for Walsh Construction and Molenar's Harley-Davidson Shop in Hammond. Ron was a lifelong Harley-Davidson enthusiast and also owned Ron's Custom Cycle in Valparaiso. He enjoyed guitars, music and Rock & Roll. His doctors referred to Ron as a "medical miracle" and each day with him was an unforgettable gift to all who knew him. He is survived by his mother, Betty L. Carns of Lake Station, son, William Carns of Chicago, IL; daughter, Jamie Carns (fiancé Christopher Breese) of Valparaiso; grandson, Deegan Breese; 2 brothers, Michael Carns of Valparaiso and Jeffrey (Carmen) Carns, all of Portage; sister, Marsha (Larry) Wurtzel of Hobart; favorite aunt, Fern Goodwin of Hobart; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. His father, Margel Roy Carns preceded him in death. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev. Marsha was employed with the Hobart Township School Corp. for many years. She enjoyed sewing and decorating and was always cooking and baking when she got a chance. Marsha will be remembered as a kind and loving person.
