Deceased Name: ROBERT G. COBLE, 81, OWNED SHOE STORE

Robert G. Coble, 81, of 19 Linden Ave., Elizabethtown, died early Sunday at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. He lived at Brethren Village since December.

Coble retired in 1990 after more than 40 years as co-owner of the former Economy Shoe Store in Elizabethtown.

He was a member of Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, where he sang in the church choir for more than 54 years and served on the church board and as a member of the pastoral search and organ design committees.

Coble also was a past president of Elizabethtown Kiwanis Club and served on the board of directors of Willowood Swim Club, Elizabethtown.

He volunteered as a driver for cancer patients and Meals on Wheels.

He was the husband of Ruth G. Ginder Coble, who died in 1991.

Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Jennie Breneman Coble.

Surviving are a daughter, Deborah K., married to Thomas Benway of Bowmansville; a son, Craig A., married to Linda Coble of Elizabethtown; and seven grandchildren.
