Daingerfield -Dr. Harold Lee Mynatt of Iowa Park, Texas is remembered and survived by family and friends. He was known as Lee to many, Dad to a special few and Paw Paw to the apples of his eyes.
Lee left us and joined his parents and other loved ones on Monday, 15 February 2016 in Iowa Park. He started out in life in Gary, Indiana born on 22 March 1942 to Delbert Harold and Mary Ann (Kasper) Mynatt.
Not one to stand still, Lee started his early years in Indiana and relocated with his parents to American Fort, Utah for two years before the family moved to Daingerfield. He graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1960 and joined the U S Marines. Lee was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during his military service.
The roads of life and career steered Lee and his family from Texas to Wilburton, Ok. to Greenwood, Ark. and back to Texas in Iowa Park. Many lifelong relationships were formed to these places he called home.
Education was important to Lee. He received a BS and Masters from the University of North Texas. Lee completed his education at East Texas State University in Commerce with a PhD. His vocation directed him to guide, educate and assist others during his career while working with various educational institutions. Lee’s public work ended with retiring from his post as a dean at Vernon College in 2000.
Pleasures in life included hunting, football, arrowhead searching, his deer lease, civic duties and friendships. More so; the crown jewels of his life were his children, grandchildren and former wife, Mary Helen (Bratton) Mynatt. Though not expressed often, Lee’s love for his family was greater than words he spoke. Words he did use often expressed pride about his children and grandchildren regarding them and their accomplishments.
