    • Obituary Verda Alene Denny Coffeyville resident Verda Alene Denny age 96 passed away on August 22, 2006 in Coffeyville. She was born November 5, 1909 in Tyro, Kansas to Orion and Euphemia Anderson Hotze. She attended school at Spring Valley near Tyro, Kansas and she graduated from Tyro High School in 1927 and Coffeyville Community College in 1929. On November 4, 1931 she was united in marriage to Arthur W. Denny in Dewey, Oklahoma. The couple made their home on a farm that her grandparents homesteaded near Tyro. She was a homemaker, wife and mother. She was a past member of the Tyro Methodist Church and a member of the Abundant Life Temple in Coffeyville. Verda is survived by daughters Lois and husband Duane Testerman of Dearing, Helen and husband Herman Carroll of Edmond, Oklahoma and son Gene and wife Carletta Denny of rural Caney, Kansas; 15 Grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 5 Great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters Alene Pogue and Coleen Larkin; one brother Leo Dale Hotze. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 25, 2006 in the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Eddie Greenfield will officiate and burial will follow in the Fawn Creek Cemetery near Tyro. Friends may call on Thursday beginning at 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home to sign the guest register.
