    • Obituary for Maxine Ardelle BelfordMaxine Ardelle Belford died Sunday, February 24, 2013, in Tulsa, Oklahoma following a brief hospital stay.
She was a resident of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, after moving there in 1947. She was born April 6, 1919, in Buffalo, Missouri. She married Roy C. Belford on August 12, 1944, in a family home in Buffalo, Missouri. As a young woman she attended the Kansas City Conservatory of Music. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 65 years, joining the Harmony Class for young married couples, and remaining a member for over 60 years. For over 50 years she was also their pianist. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, and a member of the Sesame Club.
She was an accomplished musician, and was one of the pipe organists at her church, as well as pianist and organist for local funeral homes. Her love of music was a constant theme in her life and transmitted to her children. Although a long time resident of Okmulgee, her love of the beauty of the Missouri Ozarks never waned and she frequently returned for visits. Maxine’s greatest joys and sorrows came from her deep love for her family, her friends and her faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vest and Ethyl Asbridge, and her husband Roy C. Belford. She is survived by sons, Kenny Belford of Tulsa and Randy Belford of Okmulgee, two grandchildren, Amy Schroeder and her husband Ray of Southlake, Texas and Carl Belford, two great grandchildren Brooklyn and Ashton Schroeder.
Public visitation will be Wednesday, February 27th from noon to 7pm at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home, 303 E. 7th in Okmulgee. Services will be held at 11am on Thursday, February 28th at the First United Methodist Church, 302 S. Seminole in Okmulgee, led by the Reverend Guy Langston, followed by interment at the Okmulgee Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Condolences may be made atwww.mcclendon-winters.com.
