    • J.D. Rich, 78 of Tipton died at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Miller's Merry Manor, Tipton. He was born August 10, 1935 in Moss, Tennessee to Ernest & Avie (Green) Rich. On February 14, 1959 he married Karen Sue Plake and she preceded him in death on April 27, 2007.
      J.D. worked at Steel Parts in Tipton for 39 years, retiring in 1998, and at the Tipton Golf Course for 30 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed collecting humorous buttons.
      J.D. is survived by a daughter, Kathy S. Maddox, Tipton; a son, Jay D. Rich and wife Monica, Tipton; three grandchildren, Tyler Maddox, Connor Rich, and Courtney Rich; a great-granddaughter, Ella Maddox; three brothers, Larry Rich and wife Bobbie, Bill Rich and wife Kay, Frank Rich and wife Olga, all from Tennessee; a sister, Peggy Westmoreland and husband Jimmy, also from Tennessee. He was preceded in death by a son, Jason Rich and a brother, Bob Rich.
      His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 10 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Carr presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society-Tipton County Relay for Life, 5635 West 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46278.
