      Billie C. Forbes , 83, died Jan. 20, 2006, at St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie.

      He was born in Benedict, Kan., and lived in St. Lucie County for 35 years.

      Before retirement, he was an engineer for Grumman Aerospace for 20 years.

      He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II.

      He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Covenant Tabernacle Church, both of Port St. Lucie.

      Survivors include daughters, Christella Wood of Baton Rouge, La., Joy Dawn Knapp of Port St. Lucie and Corrine Desmond of Fort Pierce; son, David Forbes of Port St. Lucie; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella May Forbes .

      SERVICES: Aycock Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie. A service will follow at noon at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chuck Longworth officiating. Burial will be in White City Cemetery.
