Pamela J. Smith, 58, passed into Eternity on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Mt. Carmel.
A graveside memorial gathering will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.
Pam was born Dec. 17, 1952 in Indianapolis, Ind., to Lavon (Howell) and William "Ray" Phelps.
She married Louie "Rusty" Smith on April 29, 1994, at her parents' home in Keensburg, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 2010. She was also preceded by her parents and an infant brother.
Survivors include two daughters, Melissa (Bethany) Dardeen and Cindy Kidd; one son, Jeffrey Kidd; two grandchildren, Scott and Cooper Phillips; and one sister, Sue Seals, all of Mt. Carmel; and one nephew, Jeremy Seals of Middlesboro, Ky. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Jimmie Dean Smith of Terre Haute, Ind.; sister-in-law, Donna Gail Hliwa of Marion, Ill.; and mother-in-law, Carolin Hammonds of Pittsburgh, Ill. Several cousins also survive.
Pam was full of life and enjoyed a wide variety of interests that included fishing, camping, quilting, crocheting, reading, cooking, drawing, woodworking, painting, and she loved animals. She could coax any flower - especially those that others had given up on - into full bloom. Pam's children and her grandchildren were her life, and she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her sister and her extended family.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.
