    • John W. Fitch, 92, Greensburg, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.. Born April 19, 1922 in Owensville, he was the son of Herschel and Minnie (Hollen) Fitch.. John was a 1940 graduate of Princeton High School. He then graduated from the Indiana University School of Law in 1950.. He worked for State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, Illinois from 1950 to 1961. He then moved to Greensburg and joined with Leon Humpert in private law practice at Humpert & Fitch Attorneys from 1961 until his retirement in 1994.. John was a two-term president of the Decatur County Bar Association. He was also a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, Past Commander of the American Legion Post #129, lifetime member of the VFW, Fraternal Order of Eagles #927, lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #36, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Temple Shrine Club, Greensburg Country Club, Greensburg Senior Citizens, Past President of the September Place board of directors, Past President of the Greensburg - Decatur County Library board.. John was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee, chairman of Administration board, lay leader and lay delegate to the annual conference.. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy.. He married Jessie Alice Spencer Nov. 23, 1950, and she preceded him in death Feb. 3, 2009.. He is survived by one son, Tom (Beth) Fitch, Clifton, Virginia; two daughters, Sandra (Bob) Murray, Helena, Montana, Terri (Loren) Stolze, Osgood; one brother, Gerald (Lillie) Fitch, Princeton; four grandchildren, Sean Fitch, Lindsey Fitch, Kellen Stolze, Alissa Stolze.. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Robert, Dorris, and Kenneth Fitch; one sister, Shirley Kunkel.. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
