- Obituary for Thomas M. Nix
Thomas M. Nix, age 70, of Huntington, died at 5:22 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2019 at his home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Father Steve Colchin officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington at a later date.
Tom was born on May 19, 1949 in Huntington, the son of Kenneth C. and Mary G. (Thompson) Nix. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1967 and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He earned an associate degree from International Business College in Fort Wayne. He married Nancy L. Michel on April 15, 1972 in Huntington. He worked at Mann’s Heating and Cooling for many years before working at Cline’s Convenience Store for five years. He worked in sales at Hibbett’s Sporting Goods for four years, retiring in 2012. Tom was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Huntington, as well as Knights of Columbus and VFW Post #2689 of Huntington. He enjoyed watching Notre Dame sports, Indiana University basketball, Chicago Cubs baseball, and golf.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Nancy L. Nix of Huntington, daughters Laura M. (Kent) Dinius of Noblesville and Amy M. (Alejandro) Avila of Huntington, a brother, David K. (JoAnn) Nix of Huntington, a sister, Nancy Hower of San Diego, California, and grandchildren Zoe Dinius, Brooke Dinius, Evan Dinius, and Logan Avila. His parents precede him in death.
