- Keith M. Johnson
August 21, 1954 - April 25, 2017
Greencastle
Keith Martin Johnson, 62, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon April 25, 2017 at the Monterey Rehabilitation Center in Grove City, OH after a two-and-a-half year battle with cancer.
Keith was born on August 21, 1954 in the Waynesboro Hospital to Arthur M. and Mabel (Negley) Johnson. He lived in Greencastle his entire life, attending Greencastle-Antrim High School and was a part of the class of 1972. After high school, he attended and graduated from Shepherd College, now Shepherd University, as part of the class of 1976.
Keith married Michele (Michael) Johnson on September 1, 1979 and they were faithfully married for over thirty-seven years.
Keith will be remembered for his love and faithfulness to God and family. His loyalty was evidenced in almost thirty-eight years of service at Foremost Industries of Greencastle. He also served within the church teaching Sunday school over 20 years and helping with the AWANA program over 20 years.
Keith fought cancer the past two and a half years. As he lived out his faith, he committed that in life he would proclaim Christ, realizing that when he died it would be to his gain, being immediately in the presence of His Savior. He died and entered the presence of His Savior on April 25 in Columbus, OH.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are his two daughters, Andrea Hara (David) of Spokane, WA and Melissa Clauson (Drew) of Columbus, OH. He had five grandchildren (Emma, Abigail, Joshua, Elliott and Jackson). He has a sister, Diane (Johnson) Whitmore; and niece, Tamara Whitmore of ME and sister-in-law, Brooke Johnson; and nephew, Ethan; and niece, Mackenzie, of Marion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Lynn Johnson.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 5 at 11 a.m. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, with Pastor David Hara officiating. The family will observe a private burial at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle. There will be no viewing but there will be a visitation at the funeral home on Thursday evening May 4 from 6–8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Child Evangelism Fellowship 45 S. Broad Street, PO Box 6, Waynesboro PA 17268 or to Camp Joy-El 3741 Joy-El Drive, Greencastle PA 17225. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com.
