- June A. Lindsey (Aunt Barney), age 86 of Valparaiso, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016. She was born on June 16, 1929 in French Lick, IN to William Otto and Alma D. (Stevens) Mills.
She is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Eddie) Guess of Valparaiso; daughter in law, Sue (Steven) Simatovich of Conroe, TX; grandchildren, Tina Marie (Gareth) Robertson of Minneola, FL, Eddie G. (Tina) Guess II of Valparaiso; great grandchildren, Lindsey Chappo of Conroe, TX, Lacey Paige Guess of Valparaiso, Eddie G. Guess III of Valparaiso, Dylan Z. Guess of Valparaiso, Gareth A. Robertson III of Minneola, FL, Mason Doyle Robertson of Minneola, FL; step grandchildren, Megan and Devin; great great-granddaughter, Sadie Rose Chappo; brother, Larry Glenn Mills; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doyle R. Lindsey; son, Doyle Mason Lindsey; brothers, Edwin Mills, William Otto Mills Jr., Robert W. Mills, Garry Lee Mills; sisters, Grace Rose, Jean Jeffers, Ruth Bratten, Lorena Brosmer, Patricia JoAnn Qualkenbush, Kathryn Mills; granddaughter, Janet Lynn Morris; great granddaughter, Piper Marie Robertson.
June was an assistant and Business Manager for 17 years at Lindsey Landscaping. She also worked for Sears Roebuck as a clerk for 6 years. June was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hobart where she also served as Sunday School Superintendent for 14 years and as President of U.M.W. for many years. She was a Mail Lady in the office at Raintree R.V. Resort in Fort Meyers, FL for 9 years. She was known as the Garden Lady, and planted and maintained a l acre garden for 19 years by hand.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 24th, 2016 at 12:00pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave, Portage, IN 46368, with Pastor Mike Cover officiating. Burial to follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage, IN. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23rd, 2016 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Funeral Home.
