- Clarajane “Janie” Hine, age 87, of Clear Lake, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 30, 2016 to be with her beloved husband Bob.She was born on November 8, 1928 in Ft. Wayne, the daughter of Mae (Thiele) Eckert. She graduated from Central High School in 1945 in Ft. Wayne. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Hine in 1947. After raising her family, she graduated from Defiance College, majoring in elementary education. She taught 4th & 6th grade for many years in the Defiance Northeast County Schools.
Her life centered around her family. The “love” of her life was Bob and her family and her two beloved grandchildren, Justin and Lindsay, and daughter Carolyn and son-in-law Gary. Her passion was planning family trips. She also, had a “warm spot” for puppy dogs and stray cats. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Chapel, Clear Lake, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hine in 2014.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Hine) Hohenberger and a son- in-law Gary Hohenberger, her granddaughter Lindsay (Hohenberger) Reinhold (Michael), grandson Justin Hohenberger (Crystal), two great-grandchildren, Kiara and Mackenzy, and a step-brother Alan Eckert (Patricia) of Sarasota, Florida.
A Celebration of Janie’s life will begin on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass, from 10 am until 11 am, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, Tuesday, at St. Paul Catholic Chapel, 8780 E 700 N, Clear Lake, Fremont, Indiana, with Father Wilfred Logsdon officiating. Burial at Jamestown Cemetery will follow. She will be truly missed.
Memorials can be made in Janie’s name to St. Paul’s Catholic Chapel, Heartland Hospice or Steuben County Humane Society.
