- Imogene I. Collins, 84, of Sugar Grove, passed away Friday June 27, 2014 at the Warren General Hospital of complications of a stroke.
She was born January 31, 1930 at home on Wilson Rd., to Benjamin and Christine Eckert Meyer. Valedictorian of her Lander High School class of 1947, she then went on to graduate from Warren Business College in 1948. Imogene had worked at Jamestown City Bank, Flickingers, GG Green and the Corry Jamestown Co. She also helped her daughter at Frewsburg Floral Design. Imogene was a devout Catholic, who enjoyed attending Mass, and watching EWTN. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and reading.
On July 30, 1948, she married her late husband Gaylord L. Collins in the Sacred Heart Church in Lakewood. The had six children, Christine Kerr, of Sugar Grove, Deborah (Robert) Graves Jr., of Corry, Monica (Dennis) Viglo of Youngsville, Michael (Jane) Collins of Sugar Grove, Gail “Tooie” (Lisa Jordan) Collins of Corry, and Jeni (Mark) Gage of Fewsburg, N.Y., A sister Pat Gruber, her grandchildren, Heidi (Tim) Farrell, Julie (Michael) Arsenault, Luke (Michelle) Allenson, Eric (Carrie) Collins, Laura (Rodney) Morris, Jake (Mandy) Graves, Mark Collins and Trevor Collins, Great grandchildren, Gavin Arsenault, Alexandria Farrell, Mason Graves, Breighton Arsenault , JT and Ashley Allenson, a great grandson Collins on the way, and several step grand and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of nearly 40 years, who passed in January 31, 1988, she was preceded in death by a great grandson, Jacob Arsenault, a foster daughter Mary Smith, a son in law Thomas Kerr, her sisters, Mary Hanson, Katherine Lyon Bloss and a brother Benjamin Harold Meyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 12 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Lakewood, N.Y., with the Rev. Fr. Bill Berrett, as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Wesleyan Cemetery in Sugar Grove.
Friends are invited to call at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 North Main St. in Youngsville, on Monday from 4-7 p.m.
