- DR. JOHN E. KRUEGER, M.D., 89, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015, in Fort Wayne. Born in Moline, Ill., John served as a member of the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific during World War II. John completed his Doctorate from the University of Iowa School of Medicine in 1953, he then moved to Fort Wayne with his wife and completed his residency at St. Joseph Hospital. John was in practice with Dr. John A. Nill, M.D. He practiced as a physician for over 50 years in Fort Wayne. He was formerly a Chief of Staff at St. Joseph Hospital and practiced at South Anthony Medical Center. John was a founding member of StatCare. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mercedes Krueger of Fort Wayne; daughter, Laura (Jerome) Nix of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Mark (Trina) Krueger of Churubusco, Ind. and Timothy (Wendy) Krueger of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and sister, Doris Laughlin of Webster City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Krueger; parents, Fred and Eunice Krueger; and brother, Warren Krueger. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with a Rosary service at 5 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Masses or the Matthew 25 Clinic.
