- Alice Virginia Mickley Funk, age 94, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 6, 2015, at Claremont Nursing Home, Carlisle, PA. Born Octoer 23, 1920, in Mt. Hope, PA, she was the daughter of the late George O. and Laura V. Sites Mickley.
A homemaker most of her life, Mrs. Funk enjoyed caring for her family, serving the Lord, cooking, and quilting. She was a longtime member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, PA.
Surviving are two sons, David Funk (wife Susan Stahl-Funk) of Mechanicsburg, PA and Rev. Timothy Funk (wife Sharon M. Funk) of Red Lion, PA; a step-daughter, Lorraine Clugston; and two grandchildren, Rebekkah M. and Jesse A. Funk, both of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Amos M. Funk and eleven siblings, Frances Orndorff, Beatrice Stevens, Arta Hossler, Earl Mickley, Lelia Sites, Helen Barton, Ruby Wetzel, Margaret Shaffer, Robert Mickely, James Mickley, and John Mickley, who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held in her honor on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at 11 AM at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 3001 Warm Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor Daniel Wilt and her son, Rev. Timothy Funk will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 until 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Salem Cemetery.
