- Obituary of Geraldine PeeblesGeraldine Peebles, age 93, of Pittsfield, Il. and formerly of Milton, Il. died late Sunday morning (May 24, 2009) at Eastside HealthCare in Pittsfield, Il. She was born October 4, 1915 in Chambersburg, Il. daughter of the late Fred and Rena Bell Hall Cook. She married Wendell Peebles on July 13, 1935 in Winchester, Il. and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1987. Surviving is one daughter, Annabelle Peebles of Pittsfield, Il.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Vera Howland, Imogene Bollman Jacobs, and Genevieve Unzicker; and five brothers, Marion Cook, Leonard Cook, Ernest Cook, Keith Cook, and Alan Cook. Mrs. Peebles was employed in earlier years by Travis Willard's Grocery Store in Milton, Il. as well as Brown Shoe Company in Pittsfield, Il. Geraldine loved to dance and play cards. She was a member of the Milton Christian Church in Milton, Il. She was also a member of the Montezuma Club in Milton, Il. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday (May 27, 2009) at Blue River Cemetery in Detroit, Il. Visitation will be held 9:30 a.m. til 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Il. Memorials may be made to Blue River Cemetery or East Pike Fire Protection District both c/o Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, Box 513, Pittsfield, Il. 62363.
