- Marilyn Elaine Mink, age 59, of Henderson, Nevada and formerly of Springfield, Il. and Pittsfield, Il. died Wednesday evening (February 10, 2010) at Odyssey Healthcare in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born February 8, 1951 in Pittsfield, Il. daughter of Harvey Ray and Ruby R. Cresson Mink. She married James Herrick in 1980 and later divorced.
Surviving are her parents, Harvey Ray and Ruby Mink of Pittsfield, Il.; a brother, Harvey Mink, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Atlanta, Georgia; two nieces, Vicky Mink and Karen Mink Todd and husband Eric both of California; and two special cousins, Carolyn Waite Bojarra and Charles Avery Ottwell. She was preceded in death by her aunts and uncles.
She attended and graduated from Pittsfield schools. She played the trombone in the Pittsfield band and was sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State. She graduated from the University of Illinois and was employed during the summers at various state offices in Springfield. After working at St. John's Hospital in Springfield for several years, she attended Lincoln Land College in Springfield and earned her degree to become a registered nurse. She worked in the emergency room at St. John's Hospital for a while before taking a position in Las Vegas with the Nevada County Prompt Care System as a registered nurse for over ten years, an occupation which she loved.
Services were entrusted to Airsman-Hires Funeral Home of Pittsfield, Illinois.
