    • John Flury, 86, of Carlisle, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at his home.
      Born Nov. 29, 1925, in Strinestown, he was a son of the late Harper K. and Florence (Prowell) Flury.
      Mr. Flury was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during World War II from Feb. 1943 to Feb. 1946 on the U.S.S. Atlanta.
      John was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golf, bowling, baseball and traveling, and he loved spending time with his family and friends.
      Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Janice M. (McCoy) Flury; a daughter, Vickie L., wife of Harold R. Vogelsong; a son, Dennis W. Flury; four grandsons, Chad R. Vogelsong, Ryan A. Vogelsong, husband of Nicole, Jesse T. Flury, husband of Heather, David A. Flury, husband of Julie; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah E. Vogelsong, Ryder J. Vogelsong and Raegan A. Flury.
      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dean E. Fink.
      A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, at his church, 4 W. Main St., New Kingstown. Interment with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Celtic Healthcare Hospice, 220 Wilson St., Ste. 100, Carlisle, PA 17013.
