- TWILA A. HIRZEL 76, passed away Friday, August 31, 2007. She was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to the Villages, Florida in 2002 from Southfield, Michigan. Twila, a former educator with a Masters in Elementary Education, taught elementary school for twenty five years in the Lakeshore School District, St. Clair Shores, Michigan. She was an involved member of Alpha Delta Kappa teaching sorority. While living in the villages, Twila was an active member North Lake Presbyterian Church. Her love of music, traveling, reading and card playing was passed down to her children and grandchildren. She was happily married to John Hirzel for 52 years, who preceded her in death. Twila's greatest joy was spending time with her family to whom she was so devoted. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Hamill (Robert Hamill) of Palm Harbor, Florida and Jane Smith (J.B. Smith) of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; brother, John L. McNary (Cathy McNary) of the Villages, Florida, and by seven grandchildren, John (Kristen), Sarah, Amy, Gregory, Andrew and Lauren. A Memorial Service will held on Saturday, September 22, 2207 at 1 p.m. at Byers Funeral Home, Lady Lake, Florida with the Pastor Irv Burton officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Villagers for Hospice, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162. Byers Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
